Dollar Amount: $50,000

Role: As a postdoc researcher working with Prof. Alice Agogino and Dr. Matilde Bisballe Jensen, we propose a study to gain knowledge about the types of sensitive data and types of risks arising from consumer usage of mobile sensing and co-robots in domestic settings. We develop a cybersecurity checklist of product design guidelines to help next generation designers and engineers in mobile sensing and co-robotics to establish an improved level of data security and protection. I have developed a grant proposal with Prof. Alice Agogino and Dr. Matilde Bisballe Jensen.

I have developed a grant proposal with Prof. Alice Agogino and have been serving as a Co-PI.

The package of comprehensive technical reports including market/user/competitor research, four hundred concepts, hardware and software prototypes, etc. was delivered to our industry sponsor. Role: As a lead Graduate Student Researcher in this research collaboration with Samsung Electronics User Experience Lab, I wrote a proposal with PI (Prof. Alice Agogino) and led a UC Berkeley Team with graduate researchers (five Master of Engineering graduate students and five undergraduates in Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program) to develop new user experience concepts for the Internet of Things. The deliverables in our final technical report include comprehensive Internet of Things market literature reviews, design research, competitive analysis, user scenarios, and top five product concepts. The work resulted in several thesis papers of participating graduate and undergraduate researchers.

·     Human-centered Design Methods: Reimagining Sensing and Mobility (DesInv 190-5, 2 Units, 30 students enrolled)

This 6 weeks-long design course explores reimagining mobile sensing devices (wearables, smart phones, mobile robots, security devices, on-board automotive devices, etc.) through the lens of cybersecurity awareness. Over the 6 week course, students will go through a human-centered design process (Research-Analyze-Ideate-Build-Communicate) on a mobile sensing design challenge. Our course is partnered with theDesignExchange (tDX) research group and students in this course will get benefit of free registration and support from tDX researchers throughout the semester.
